Hello Everyone, Lavanya

Lavanya's meeting summary:

Everyone did an amazing job, sticking to the way the roles were described in the book while bringing in their personal touch. A special congratulations to Connie and Brenda for their icebreakers. Both of them were very confident and wow'ed us all with their speeches. They both concentrated on one aspect of their life and elaborated on it. This not only gave us a taste of their life, but also made the speech very interesting.

Tip: Bring your Competent Leadership manual to every meeting so you can get credit for any role you perform and finally get the CL recognition

Club News:
1. TLI training workshops are being held in full swing; officers are encouraged to attend and anyone else who is interested too; contact me/Sue if you would like to check one of these sessions; they definitely add value to being a Toastmaster
2. Area Contest (International speech and Evaluation) is set for March 27th; we will have our club contest either in the 2nd meeting of February or 1st meeting of March; so buckle up and sign up to participate; winners from the club will go to Area, winners from Area to District, and so on until the International contest; this is a good way to challenge yourself and meet the other established/proficient speakers in other clubs

Meeting Schedule:

Schedule - note if you cannot fulfill your role please make arrangements with another toastie to switch nights and then let the TMoE (and Sue) know about the substitution:

why?Experienced professionals and beginning speakers alike can benefit from our practical, face-to-face learning program. Whether you're speaking to the board of directors, your customers, your co-workers or your kids, Toastmasters can help you do it better. You'll learn and practice in a friendly, comfortable environment with people who are there for the same reason you are—to become better communicators.

how?At Toastmasters, members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a supportive environment. Our Toastmasters club is made up of 20 to 30 people who meet twice a month for two hours. Each meeting gives everyone an opportunity to practice conducting meetings, giving impromptu speeches, presenting prepared speeches, and offering constructive evaluation.

where?

Loudoun Toastmasters is an evening club located in Lansdowne, VA. Our members come from the surrounding communities, including Ashburn, Lansdowne and Leesburg. We even have several members that come all the way from West Virginia to attend our meetings!

We meet at the National Conference Center in Lansdown, VA. Follow the link for Directions on the left for more information! Look in the Public Downloads folder for a detailed map of the campus.

when?
We meet twice a month on the first and third Thursday evenings from 7:15 until 9:00 PM. Guests are encouraged to arrive around 7:00 PM to get to know the members prior to the meeting.

We hope to see you at the next meeting!
